About John Williams (Film Composer)
I remember owning the film: Amadeus, on VHS, brilliant film but not accurate. There should be a more accurate film made.
Try telling this to just about anyone and they will not believe you, re: the correct pronunciation of this word in English.
thanks for the video! writing notes for this I love Bach
Thank you for commenting, and Bach is one of the best!
Neverending story
That IS a fun fact!
never ending story
I hope you are well and sound since this was your last upload :(
Thank you, and stay tuned as I've been making shorts (experimenting with that format), and getting back into making longer videos. I am also working on a collab with two other creators. Thank you for your kind comment!
That is some amazing news :D. GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE, I WILL KEEP FOLLOWING YOU. I also hope UA-cam algorithm will bless you. Good luck and thank you for all the hard work.
@user-wq2dp6en1f thank you so much! 🤜✨️🤛
using 5 and 9 beats is messing up my westernized musical mind
The concept of the 'Second Layer' helped me a lot in understanding compound meter! Thank you for making this video!
Glad to hear it helped, and thank you for commenting!
I know Mozart acted like a rowdy frat boy a lot of times, but I hope to GOD he didn’t have the annoying laugh that Tom Hulce used in the movie..I also didn’t like the fact that the writer of “Amadeus” made up a rivalry between Salieri and Mozart that didn’t exist.
I've read that Mozart's laugh was more boisterous, but I doubt it was a cackle like Hulce portrayed. Actually, the rivalry between Salieri and Mozart goes way back to the Viennese public in the wake of Mozart's death. The rumor mill was ablaze with that scandalous accusation! Thank you for commenting, and be sure to check out my other videos. I've been thinking about reviving this series on Amadeus as well.
Thank you for this knowledge on music 🎶🙏🏼.
You're welcome, and thank you for commenting!
Well, starting off with "Britain's got talent"...eh, guess I'll have to find someone more serious to listen to on this stuff.
It should be sung by male voices

Awesome material, thank you!

So glad to hear that! It is quite challenging to make these videos do justice to the material yet keep them pithy. Thank you so much for commenting, and be sure to subscribe to stay notified of new content. Feel free to suggest new topics to cover as well :)

My son is 16 years old and a sophomore at a Catholic high school here in Virginia. If you go to his UA-cam channel 'Mr. Roy Wulf', you can see a video of a presentation he did a week ago about his love for Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony. He does a very soft sell of traditional music, however, as there are still many who resist traditional music in favor of the modern liturgical music that started in the 1970s or those who applaud, for example, the techno music played at World Youth Day.
AMAZING
You beat me up. I can't help you. I'm simply staying alive to tell the story.
Greatest Film of All Time. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Ummm... Did Jazz influence Metal? Yes and no... Some Metal musicians have also said to me they just woke up one day and wanted to make the angriest form of music possible when they were teens. I asked them if they liked Jazz and most of them said they never listened to it (especially the ones that made Black Metal in the 1980s). Yet, the mainstream media and college courses swear that all or most Metal comes from Jazz which is mostly a lie...
What a cool visual representation, I could watch it all day
Wow, after seeing this... is "No Time For Caution" (Hans Zimmer)... a Fugue?
That piece definitely has some of motion of a Baroque work (mostly constant flow of rhythm) as well as Baroque-esque alternating meoldy notes with a drone note, but it lacks the format of a fugue. Good question!
Thank you so much for this! It was extremely helpful in understanding Beat and Rhythm.
Glad to hear, and thank you for commenting!
I've been on a spiritual journey for about a year now..A bunch of strange things, prayers answered at times almost instantly, being taught by Father about the world, everything in it, us, and now learning how to survive in it (though the means of studying man can be assisted by learning about plants and whatnot without using so many words) Anywhozles.... Recently all of a sudden gregorian chants started FILLING my youtube feed and I was wondering where the heck they came from...I guess Dad is trying to give me music I might enjoy, lol. Thank you sir for explaining this to me, and..well...us. It is so very beautiful to listen to and interesting to know our music comes from such a thing!
Funny how things come our way at peculiar times! Glad this video could help you understand more about Gregorian Chants, and do check out more recordings of them. No matter your spiritual beliefs, they definitely evoke a reverent atmosphere of worship and beauty.
@@UnderstandingMusic They certainly do
Thanks it was very helpful

And Mozart took his mother-in-law to hear Joespha. Mischievous of him as the mother-in-law was his blueprint for the Queen of Night's hysterical behaviour.
❤ *Is there a part 2?*
Unfortunately the amount of work involved in making Part One did not align with the views it got. Personally, I want to make more parts and hope to, so stay tooled as I am working on making new content soon!
@@UnderstandingMusic Awesome I'm down for it!

Got to perform a fugue style song in a show once… Still one of my absolute favorite songs I’ve ever sung for musical theater
I bet! Which song was it, and from which musical?
@@UnderstandingMusic Phantom Fugue from Phantom by Yeston & Kopit (written at the same time as Phantom of the Opera and based off of the same book). Here's a link to the song! ua-cam.com/video/x67sKCVhsX8/v-deo.htmlsi=ckSIELp9t8kpmWR1
I've never liked the director's cut. Especially the extended scene with Salieri and Constanza, where he feigns seducing her: it felt wildly out of place and out of character for both Constanza and Salieri. Then the scene with the piano lesson with the yapping dogs was completely superfluous and felt shoehorned in for cheap laughs when the film already abounds with humor.
I totally agree. It does better explain Constanze's bitterness to Salieri when she returns from the spa at the end of the film, but it also detracts a lot from Constanze's character. It was originally cut because test audiences ended up hating her character once that scene happens. To me the theatrical cut us the supreme one as well.
What a great video. And, I wrote and performed an aria. Would you let me know what you think of it? Thanks! 🎶🎼🎵 ua-cam.com/video/_dfv_ryFnUY/v-deo.htmlsi=yN-csWccovsSJC9B
Informative👍 Thank you.
Appreciate it, and thank you for commenting! Be sure to check out my other content and subscribe if you haven't already :)
I disagree with the salieri's confession. Salieri didnt ever confessed abt killing mozart nor ever specified anything about poison. He must have mumbled some things in his last years, but it needs to be taken into account that he suffered from dementia in his old days and could be that in this state of decaying mind he believed in the rumors gossiped about him
Absolutely a valid point. He very much likely was suffering from mental decline as I do not believe he ever had any serious intents of ever physically harming Mozart. They were friendly rivals at worse.
@@UnderstandingMusic it was actually mozart who didnt liked salieri. In some letters to his father he complains abt the "italians" having a cabal to damage him or his reputation, which has never been proved or supported by any kind of evidence neither by him or anyone else, and can stand as xenophobic paranoia alone. The germanics (austrians, swiss and germans) didnt like much the italians in that period and this was a cultural thing
